Sheriff Durden has the proven experience to run the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office and has the tested leadership to continue.

He has risen through the ranks serving and supervising in various different roles within the Sheriff’s Office.

He never asks more from his staff than he is willing to do.

Sheriff Durden currently oversees the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office with a staff of over 60 and has served the office in many capacities through the years.

Before becoming Sheriff in 2017, Tony Durden was a Gulf War vet who served in the US Navy.

He has served as the Operation Commander, Support Service Commander, Team Coordinator for the new Caswell County Law Enforcement Complex, Civil Process/Courthouse security supervisor, School Resource Officer, Detention Officer and Patrol Deputy.

Tony Durden handled day to day operations of this Sheriff’s office, first as Lieutenant and then Captain, before becoming Sheriff.  No one else has Tony Durden’s level of experience.

He also remains dually sworn as both a detention officer and as law enforcement.

In the last four years for which the
NC SBI has provided data, the overall crime index in Caswell County has fallen by nearly half. Since Tony Durden took office as our Sheriff in 2017, the rates of property crime, larceny, robbery, and burglary are all down over 80%.

In fact, by all measures, Caswell County has the among the very lowest crime rates in North Carolina.
